Spotted St. John’s Wort
Spotted St. John’s Wort (Hypericum punctatum) is a compact native perennial with clusters of bright yellow, five-petaled flowers covered in distinctive dark dots. It blooms through summer and thrives in full sun to part sun and dry to medium soils, making it an adaptable choice for meadows, woodland edges, and naturalized gardens. The pollen-rich flowers of Spotted St. John’s Wort attract native bees and other beneficial insects, while its tidy size makes it easy to incorporate into smaller plantings. NOTE: The foliage is mildly toxic mammals (great deer-resistants) and the leaf sap may cause skin irritation when exposed to sunlight.
